Note that this package has been released by Clearpath Robotics as lms1xx. You can install it on Ubuntu using apt:

LMS100 is a ROS node for libLMS1xx.Published Topics
scan (sensor_msgs/LaserScan)- Scan data from the laser.
Parameters
~host (string, default: 192.168.1.2)- The device hostname or IP address.
- The laser data frame. This frame should be at the optical center of the laser, with the x-axis along the zero degree ray, and the y-axis along the pi/2 degree ray.
